The Role
Assistant Area Manager Janitorial Services (Government/Municipality Sector)
Join a team that keeps essential public spaces clean, safe, and operational. We're seeking a dependable and proactive Assistant Area Manager to help lead janitorial operations across government and municipal facilities throughout Los Angeles County.
In this pivotal role, you'll partner with the Area Manager to ensure seamless day-to-day operations, support front-line teams, and uphold the highest standards of cleanliness, safety, and compliance. You'll conduct site inspections, manage scheduling and staffing, and maintain strong relationships with both clients and team members — all while ensuring service excellence in sensitive public environments.

WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Ensures contracted service is delivered to client and completed to client's specifications; is the point of escalation for client questions and concerns; supports in leading contract renegotiations and in seeking new service opportunities.
- Ensures site staff and management understand and execute their responsibilities in a consistent, safe manner.
- Ensures sites are properly staffed with the appropriate number, type, and skill of service team members and managers.
- Recruits for multiple sites, including opening the requisition, selecting appropriate candidates, conducting interviews, and giving feedback and candidate selection input.
- Ensures payroll processes are completed for the portfolio, including ensuring managers have completed payroll related tasks and reviewing and approving timesheets as necessary; able to run timekeeping reports and derive and develop meaningful workforce metrics from the data.
- Communicates and articulates safety and job-related training to a variety of service team members and managers.
- Develops and guides employees; is the point of escalation for employee relations issues, including corrective action; escalates and/or consults with human resources when appropriate.
- Develops metrics for portfolio supply inventory for budgeting and client contract negotiations
What It Takes To Be Successful
- 5+ years of experience in a service-related industry, ideally within facilities or janitorial operations management.
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to motivate, guide, and support diverse teams.
- Tech-savvy, with proficiency in timekeeping systems and the Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Bilingual in English and Spanish strongly preferred.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a customer-focused approach.
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
- A self-starter who is reliable, proactive, and able to work independently.
- Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
- Physically able to stand or walk for 46 hours at a time and lift up to 25 pounds as required.
