Summary
The Branch Manager is responsible for managing and overseeing the daily operations of the branch in addition to maximizing the profitability of the branch. This includes developing new retail and commercial banking relationships and providing excellent sales and customer service to customers. The Branch Manager will be leading and supervising staff, while ensuring that all branch operations are running smoothly and efficiently. The Branch Manager uses knowledge of banking regulations and policies to ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
Essential Functions/Job Responsibilities
- Greet customers upon arrival and provide prompt, courteous service.
- Hire, train, and manage branch staff.
- Monitor staff performance and provide feedback and guidance.
- Establishes and oversees staff training and development plans, coach employees daily in appropriate operational practices and methods.
- Develop and implement operational procedures to ensure branch staff follow bank's operational procedures.
- Analyze customer data to identify customer needs and create solutions.
- Implement strategies to increase deposit and loan accounts.
- Respond to customer inquiries and complaints in a prompt and professional manner.
- Oversee customer service operations in order to provide a high-quality experience.
- Monitor branch performance and identify areas of improvement.
- Solicits customer and small business loan applications, interviews loan applicants, forward loan applications and supporting documentation to appropriate channels for credit.
- Reviews, audits, modifies, and prepares a variety of operational and financial reports and general correspondence within required timeframes.
- Reviews customer overdrafts and other transactions for approval in accordance with established authority levels and limits.
- Reviews and approves documentation prepared by branch staff for new accounts, reviews and approves large teller transaction items.
- Collaborates and communicates with Assistant Branch Manager and other branch personnel to ensure policies and procedures are being followed.
- Completes and discusses a performance score card with each staff member monthly, reviewing branch goals, individual performance, and transaction details.
- Complete performance reviews and address any performance deficiencies promptly.
- Verifies cash when overages/shortages occur; assists branch staff when balancing problems occur using knowledge of common errors.
- May assist in new account and transaction functions to support staff when needed.
- Supports Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) through business development efforts, educates branch staff in CRA requirements including documentation, directs overall CRA efforts for the branch.
- Ensures compliance with established Bank policies and procedures. Demonstrates knowledge of, adherence to, monitoring and responsibility for compliance with state and federal regulations and related laws as they pertain to the Bank Secrecy Act in conjunction with the USA PATRIOT Act, Anti-Money Laundering and Customer Information Program.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree preferred/or commensurate prior experience.
- 5+ years of experience in a banking or financial services role.
- 3+ years of experience in a managerial or supervisory role Experience in customer service.
- In-depth knowledge of banking regulations and compliance standards.
- Proven track record of successfully managing banking operations.
- Excellent customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in the use of banking software applications and computer systems, including Microsoft Office applications.
- Highly detail orientated with strong organizational skills.
