Description
OverviewAbout the Club In 1965, three local businessmen and good friends, Louis Nazzaro, Russ DiFranco and Nick Nerich, shared a dream: to create "a place of complete enjoyment and relaxation for you and your children, and a place where you will be proud to entertain your guests." Their vision of a "little club in the country" began to take shape in 1966 when they purchased the Costello farm and created the Redding Country Club Holding Corporation. The 46 investors in The Holding Corporation included Redding residents, along with notables such as actress Carmen Mathews, bandleader Enoch Light and industrial designer Francesco Gianninoto.
In 1976, the original Holding Corporation was unwound and its members purchased The Redding Country Club. The current course was transformed by Rees Jones (Old Chatham, Pinehurst #7, Torrey Pines 2001 Reconstruction), son of legendary golf course designer Robert Trent Jones, Taking advantage of the natural streams and ponds, Jones incorporated precipitous elevation changes to carve out a 6277-yard course that proves the adage, "Don't judge a course by its length."
Other major enhancements have included: dramatic new surrounds for the greens; bunkers rebuilt and "rescued;" new tees stretched the course to 6355 yards; and a 70-yard short-game area to augment the existing driving range and putting green. In 2023, the course completed its latest modifications that included two newly expanded ponds to increase irrigation water storage and to improve the look of several key holes.
